Nadia Elena Comaneci
She was famous when she scored the first ever perfect 10, on the asymmetrical bar during the Montreal Olympic Games. After that, in 1976 Nadia Comaneci went on to record six more perfect 10s. She also became the fastest Olympic silver medalist. Nadia Comaneci didn't just draw worldwide attention; she also helped put Romania onto the map. With a score which was impossible to achieve and a sporting legend, she brought gymnastics into the spotlight of international attention. This also influenced the public's view about female gymnasts. It was because of her influence during her participation in the Olympics that the uneven bars competition is named for two of the moves after her - toe-on and release, both of which still are considered to be at an extremely difficult and level. She also performed well at World Championships, European Championships as well as the Olympics. It has made her famous, and she's one of the most famous gymnasts in the world. In addition, she modeled and promoted athletic gear following her move from the US.
